Complete administraion within one hour before surgical incision. Preferably within 30 minutes.

For high BMI pateints, consider higher doses. E.g. 3g of Cephazolin if >120kg.

Prophylaxis should be stopped within 24 hours of procedure unless specifically requested.

Antibiotics are not recommened for clean surgical procedures, unless the consequence of infection is severe, for example joint prosthesis.

IV is route of choice.
